THIS SENTENCE HAS BEEN INCREASED ON APPEAL - REFERENCE BY THE ATTORNEY GENERAL UNDER S.36 CRIMINAL JUSTICE ACT 1988He was found guilty of rape, assault by penetration and sexual assault. He committed the 64 offences against 23 male victims. He is currently serving a life sentence (88 concurrent life sentences) with a minimum term of 20-years imprisonment following two earlier trials relating to 96 offences committed against 25 male victims. This minimum term has now been increased to 30 years. The Crown Prosecution Service split the prosecution into four separate trials. At his first trial he was convicted of 31 counts of rape, three counts of attempted rape and six counts of sexual assault. At his second trial he was convicted of 49 counts of rape, five counts of attempted rape and one count of sexual assault. At his third trial he was convicted of 26 counts of rape, one count of assault by penetration and 5 counts of sexual assault. At his fourth trial he was convicted of 30 counts of rape and 2 counts of sexual assault. He was found guilty of a total of 159 offences committed between January 2015 and June 2017 - 136 counts of rape, 14 counts of sexual assault, 8 counts of attempted rape and assault by penetration. He targeted vulnerable men, approaching them in the street, before convincing them to come back to his home under false pretences. He then offered his victims a drink which contained a substance, believed to be GHB, that would render them unconscious. He would then rape and sexually assault the unconscious men whilst filming the acts. The judge said: "In my judgment you are a highly dangerous, cunning and deceitful individual who will never be safe to be released, but that is a matter for the Parole Board... The true scale of your offending may never be known, but the police have established there are 195 different males who appear to be unconscious whilst you sexually assaulted them on the films that you took... You are an evil serial sexual predator who has preyed upon young men... One of your victims described you in his victim personal statement as a monster ... that is an accurate description... each of your victims was unconscious and incapable of consenting to any sexual activity... Several were snoring throughout when you were sexually assaulting them... I am unaware of any other case of sexual offending of this scale and magnitude"
