What the court heard
He pleaded guilty to attempted murder in Lowestoft, Suffolk, on 9 September 2019. He used a lump hammer to attack his wife while she was cooking at their home. His 39-year-old victim suffered a serious head injury as a result of the assault. The court heard that he had the mistaken belief that his wife had been poisoning his food.
