He pleaded guilty to buggery, indecent assault on a male child and gross indecency with a child between September 1984 and June 1990. He was a monk at a Catholic boarding school when he abused his position of trust and sexually abused (buggery and indecent assault) a pupil aged between 10-years-old and 12-years-old at a school (Ampleforth College) in North Yorkshire. He was a Father at a parish in Workington, Cumbria, when he indecently assaulted a boy aged 9 or 10-years-old between October 1987 and December 1988. He sexually abused (gross indecency and indecent assault) his third victim, a boy aged between 10-years-old and 12-years-old, in Workington, Cumbria, between June 1987 and June 1990. The judge said: "You abused your position as a teacher and a priest to sexually abuse ... You abused them in the most vile way ... Your values were not those of a man of the cloth"
