What the court heard
He was found guilty of murder in Lancashire on 28 April 2019. He met his 18-year-old victim via a dating app (Grindr) and lured him to a secluded area of woodland where he attacked him with a knife. He stabbed his victim repeatedly. His victim suffered more than 100 stab wounds and died at the scene. He had pleaded guilty to manslaughter by reason of diminished responsibility. A count of possession of a bladed article (knife) was ordered to lie on the court file. The judge said: "[The victim] was a kind-hearted, gentle and hard working young man who would never have harmed anyone. You lured him to his death and executed the killing in a savage way. You were undoubtedly setting him up to kill ... you are a manipulative, calculating and devious person... In my judgement you are an extremely dangerous person and although you have paranoid schizophrenia the illness did not reduce your culpability in any significant way"
