What the court heard
He was found guilty of murder in Godstone, Surrey, on 25 April 2020. He broke into his 88-year-old victims home and assaulted him before stealing his property. His victim died at the scene. His victims body was discovered by his son on 27 April 2020. He had pleaded guilty to manslaughter, burglary and fraud. The judge said: "You are a drug addict and you committed numerous offences to fund that addiction... At that time you had a choice. The obvious choice would have been to turn around and remove yourself from the scene. You did not do so. Instead you launched an unprovoked and sustained, violent assault"
