What the court heard
He was found guilty of murder in Kingston upon Hull, East Yorkshire, on 25 October 1997 and in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, on 26 December 2018. He had been found not guilty of the murder of his first victim at a previous trial in February 2000. In 2019 the acquittal was quashed and a retrial was ordered. The judge said: "You thought you had got away with murder, but today your past has caught up with you... You are an extremely dangerous man, with a long-held, deep-seated and warped view of women, particularly of sex workers... It would not be an overstatement to say, that what you did to those two women and the loss and suffering to their families, was wicked."
