What the court heard
He was found guilty of murder and perverting the course of justice in Ilford, east London, on 11 July 2022. He pleaded guilty (on the first day of his trial) to manslaughter. The judge said: "[Y]our unrequited feelings for [victim] boiled over and resulted in you taking hold of a face mask and forcing it into the back of her mouth which led to her collapse and ultimately to her death from asphyxiation."
